About
My work explores contrast, I'm drawn to the juxtaposition of difference. Pattern and colour are an integral part of my imagery. I draw, print, paint and collage. Constantly experimenting, I use different mediums and techniques in combination, creating layers which are built and revisited. Culminating in a visual discordance of order and chaos, with abstraction and repetitive pattern sitting side by side.
I'm inspired by my beloved spirograph, fabric and haberdashery departments, Moroccan tiles, Hornsea and 70's pottery, walking, reading, the perfection of geometric pattern and the work of artists Margaret Mellis, Anni Albers, Beatriz Milhazes, Barbara Rae, Kaffe Fassett, Hurvin Anderson, Sybil and Cyril Powers.
